Since the founding of Nisshin in 1900, we have maintained a corporate principle of "contributing to a healthy and fruitful life for all" based on the guiding philosophies of "the basis of business is built on trust" and "being in tune with the changing climate." We have continuously changed ourselves with the belief that companies can only survive and expect growth by effectively modifying themselves to better adapt to changes in the business environment.
In July 2001, to mark the centenary of our establishment and in order to accomplish major reforms and development for our next 100 years, we moved into a new group structure where our major business units have become separate, autonomous operating companies, we made Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. a pure holding company, and we adopted the maximization of our long-term corporate value as our key management policy. On this basis, we have developed our group management while continuing to focus the allocation of resources into our core businesses and growth businesses.
Under the Nisshin Seifun Group Inc., each of the group's major businesses, namely flour milling, processed foods, health foods, biotechnology, pet foods, engineering and mesh cloth now operates as a self-directing entity able to respond to our customers' needs more quickly. The group is operating as a flexible, yet powerful organization, aiming to be number one in its respective industries and business sectors with products that are more in line with the market, and striving to expand its business overseas.
In order to achieve our sustainable growth, we are making efforts to move to the same direction, by gaining precise understandings of each individual company's business environment and clarifying the direction to proceed. Also, with the aim of remaining a corporate entity that is truly essential for society, as a corporate group which delivers "safety", "security" and "good health", we are stepping up efforts to retain the active support of all stakeholders, including shareholders, customers, business partners, employees and local communities, while at the same time, fulfilling our corporate social responsibilities (CSR), in such terms as food safety, embracing internal control systems, compliance, protecting the environment, contributing to society and respecting human rights.
