Basic approach

Recognizing that our business activities affect the entire planet and that protecting the global environment is essential for our survival and activity, we actively take the initiative to protect the environment under the Nisshin Seifun Group Environmental Basic Policy, including initiatives to reduce waste and CO₂ emissions and to effectively use resources and energy.

Our business and products are dependent on the blessings of nature. We provide information and study sessions for employees to understand the links between biodiversity and our business activities and daily lives. We are also working to ensure these blessings will continue to be available as a foundation of a healthy and fruitful life for people into the future by supporting the activities of organizations such as the authorized NPO Kiritappu Wetland National Trust and the charitable trust Keidanren Nature Conservation Fund.

Support for the Kiritappu Wetland National Trust

Kiritappu Wetland in Hokkaido is Japan’s third biggest wetland. It has been registered under the Ramsar Convention due to the extremely important role it plays in nurturing a wide variety of life and as a habitat for waterfowl. Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. is supporting the Kiritappu Wetland National Trust in its efforts to buy privately owned sections of the wetlands and to carry out conservation activities in order to leave a wonderful natural resource for future generations.

Connecting with local nature through a flora and fauna survey (Nisshin Milling Museum)

The Nisshin Milling Muesum, a corporate cultural facility located in Tatebayashi, Gunma Prefecture, where Nisshin Seifun was originally founded, has conducted a survey to understand how the natural environment and living beings in the region are interconnected. The results have revealed that the region is a habitat for a variety of birds and butterflies and that these can often be seen in the area around the museum.

Conserving the local coastline

Since 2017, approximately 100 employees of Thai Nisshin Seifun Co., Ltd. have been participating in activities to revive the mangrove forests that grow along the regional coastline. Mangrove forests are able to absorb and store CO₂, which is a major contributor to global warming, and also provide a habitat for a wide variety of life. They are also expected to help protect the livelihoods of local communities from disasters such as tsunamis and high tides.
